Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) recently hosted a strategic-level workshop in Adelaide with AACB and its member bureaux to gather input for the DestinationNEXT scenario model and its phase 2 NEXTPractices.
The workshop, attended by convention bureaux CEO’s, focused on the future of the global destination marketing industry. The DestinationNEXT vision is to provide Destination Marketing Organisations (DMOs) with practical, clear actions and strategies for sustainable success in a dramatically changing world.
“DestinationNEXT is an international collaboration seeking DMO intelligence from around the world,” said Scott Beck, Chairman of DMAI. “The project will identify specific strategies that will help DMO’s be more successful in the future. I am excited to have AACB involved with the initiative. AACB’s recoginsed global leadership adds to the value and credibility of DestinationNEXT.”
Direct input from bureaux CEOs will better define the current state of the destination marketing industry and position in the marketplace, identify major trends and issues, recommend action strategies, determine possible new DMO prototypes and prepare a tool kit to assist DMOs on an ongoing basis.
“DMAI recognises the strong leadership of Australian convention bureaux and the contribution we make to the national economy,” said AACB President Lyn Lewis-Smith. “DestinationNEXT will help Australian convention bureaux identify possible new and sustainable priorities and strategies that deliver greater benefit and value to the economy.
