AACB is committed to the recognition and encouragement of excellence. This scholarship is designed to offer bureau staff an opportunity to demonstrate their professional commitment, delivery of high quality service and dedication to the business events industry.

AACB Staff Scholarship 2017/18 Winner

Shannon Thwaites, Manager - Global Business Events at Destination Gold Coast has been awarded the prestigious AACB Staff Scholarship for 2018/19. The Scholarship was announced at the AACB Annual Conference AIME Gala Dinner held at Spirt House Restaurant and Cooking School on the Sunshine Coast.

With her winning proposal to future proof talent in the business events industry, Shannon’s project will investigate ways to cultivate specialised industry talent, analyse methods to transfer knowledge and experiences and to connect current leaders with future leaders.

The successful applicant will receive a $5,000 cash grant and free international return flights to undertake a proposed project of career development that brings benefit to their bureau and AACB members.

The application process requires:

  • CEO nomination
  • A research project proposal focused on business events that supports your career professionalism and brings benefit to your bureau and AACB members across Australia. The project could incorporate an industry event, academic course or work placement – in Australia or offshore.
  • Current CV verified by your manager/CEO
  • Application form

Eligible applicants must be employed by an AACB member in a permanent capacity for a period of at least 12 months by the submission deadline.
