Priorities of the business events sector in the development of the next long-term tourism strategy

The Beyond Tourism 2020 Steering Committee called for input as the it develops Australia's next long-term tourism strategy to 2030. The AACB has responded with the priorities of the business events sector, referencing the following pillars:

  • Access development (aviation, visa)
  • Driving demand
  • Infrastructure investment
  • Visitor experience
  • Tourism workforce
  • Business and product sustainability

The Beyond Tourism 2020 Steering Committee submitted its report to Government in December 2018. In January 2019, the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment launched a consultation process to seek industry and governments’ views on the draft report. The next long-term tourism strategy will extend out to the year 2030. This consultation process will provide valuable insights in shaping the trajectory of Australia’s tourism industry.

Austrade invites views from interested parties on the Beyond Tourism 2020 Steering Committee’s vision for the next long-term tourism strategy. The closing date for submissions is COB 8 March 2019.
