AACB is committed to the professional development of convention bureaux staff, particularly junior staff who have shown a commitment to their job and an interest in the business events industry.
This year, Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) in conjunction with the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) awarded the Young Professional Scholarship to a staff member within AACB’s membership.
The winner received a complimentary registration to attend the MEA 2017 National Conference, held at the new International Convention Centre Sydney from 30 April – 2 May, as well as 3 nights' accommodation.
MEA and AACB is proud to congratulate: Ms Sasha Andersen, Melbourne Convention Bureau as winner of the 2017 MEA Young Professional Scholarship.
Sasha is responsible for looking after the Incentive and Corporate Meetings sector as a Sales Executive, promoting and marketing Melbourne as a leading business events destination.
Sasha commented, "The top two highlights from the MEA Conference for me would be the inspiration and motivation I gained from the sessions and the ability to connect with likeminded people.
The breakout times and social functions gave me the opportunity to discuss the industry with new contacts and widened my network nationally.
Although there was plenty of great sessions at the conference, the top one for me was Psychology of Negotiations by Rob Payne. Rob had a wealth of information and was able to present in an engaging manner. The negotiation insight of the ‘anchoring effect’ and technique of putting a time limit on offers, are skills I’m able to implement into my day-to-day business straight away.
I’m very grateful to AACB for the opportunity and hope Bureaux encourage their young staff to apply next year."
